Definition of A Soul Mate??

As promised in my last mail out to you, I am gonna share with you something my pastor taught me a few months ago about our Soul. We often talked about soul mates, soul music, and sing about our soul, but how many of us really know our soul, is it a physical entity or mere illusion we have created for ourselves?

According to this site..., a soul mate is...

1. A person with whom one has a strong affinity.
2. One of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity.
3. Someone for whom you have a deep affinity.

Sounds good but how do we defined soul then? For an official definition of soul...check out...

Is our SOUL something abstract, metaphysical or is it real? Well, so far no one except my pastor has been able to explain to me very clearly what my soul is made up of and why it is very much related to how we are to reach out to unsaved souls in the world today.

Basically, our soul is made up of 7 components and if you believe the bible, you know that we are created all the same in the image of God and if you look around the couple-friends you have, perhaps after this you will have a better understanding why some couples stay together and some fight all the time.

Here we go...

1. Spirituality
From my own experience, I began to experience a void and an emptiness when I reached my teenage years, I began to question the existence of a higher being, a creator or simply God. All of us no matter what background we are from have a longing to fill our spiritual void, and that's the reason why Religion is a very important component of one's soul and the fact that people are willing to die for religion is a clear indication to me that Spirituality is real.

Ask a free thinker and he/she will even admit to you we are more than just flesh and blood, there is a spirit within all of us.

If all things being equal a couple with different religions tend not to be as happy as those who belong to the same faith. Stil want to date a non-christian?

2. Love
I am not talking about the love of christ here but love we give and share amongst friends and family members. Once my daughter's leg got caught in a bicycle, her ankle was twisted and bruised as it was caught between the spookes and the fork holding the front wheel. She was 4 year old then and was all calm and good until her mother came along. That's when her flood gate of tears started to pour. All of us long to be loved, give love and just experience love. And of course there are many "love" inmitations in the world today. Some souls experience love at home and is not emotionally shut down can give love freely. But those who have been deprived of love at home can't communicate love or give love. So your soul mate is probably someone who can love at the same level as you do.

3. Self Esteem
When someone has low self esteem, he/she also lacks confidence, too much of self esteem, we called it pride. The truth is we can never accept a soul mate whose self esteem is very different from ours. Our self-esteem like it or not comes from the work we do based on the potential we have.

Couple with different level of self-esteem rarely get along and if they are in a relationship, it tends to get quite abusive, ie not healthy.

4. Knowledge
Living in the information era right now, we cant deny all of us crave for knowledge of some form or another. Our souls need knowledge so that we can engaged. Even though my mother is not very educated, she makes it a point to read the newspaper on a daily basis just to stay ahead.

Couples with different level of cravings for knowledge will have a harder time getting along than those who seek knowledge in the same way.

5. Security
Yes the soul does need security, all of us need to or want to operate in a stable environment, employees like stability and so does businessmen! Even in a relationship we longed for security. My view is the appreciation for security tend to go up as we age.

6. Aesthetic
Not matter how ugle or good looking we think we are, all of us want to look good and it's obvious all of us uses different benckmark to measure beauty. But going beyond our self, all humans have souls because we appreciate a good song, colorful design, nice music, good ambience for dinner. That's the soul acting out and appreciating the sights, sounds in the surroundings.

7. Freedom
Yes our soul longs to be free. We dont like to be controlled, dont like to be confined, we want to be able to do the things we like to do and state our opinions. Every age group is craving for Freedom. Why? It's in our soul.

When you find a person who can complement your lack in any of the above 7 traits or have the same level of soulness as you do, you click. Of course within each 7 traits, there are several other sub traits that will probably take me several newsletters to cover.

Dont discount your soul because the whole world is made up of these 7 traits...

Spirituality in our soul is manifested through Religion in our society.

Love in our soul is found in the family units in our society.

Self esteem is found in the jobs we perform in the daily businesses operating in the society.

Knowledge in our soul is fulfilled through the education system in our society.

Security is found in our government, not matter what your poliitcal view points, all of us want stability.

Aesthetic in our soul is fulfilled through Arts, Music, Dance and Fashion in the society.

And finally freedom is best showcase through the media and in press. That's why all of us want to know the truth and because deep down we know truth will set us free. Personally I think the most effective way to spread the good news start from how we choose our soul mate.

A good soul mate equals happy marriage, equals strong family/society equals strong influence equals the world asking christians, tell us your secret!

This is a rough summary of a sermon preached by my pastor some months ago. Please feel free to comment by writing to me, and I will publish it on my website.
