Are you around the Lenawee County area? Check out the latest speaker in town on dating for your teenagers…
A nationally recognized author and motivational Christian speaker is coming to Lenawee County to ask area youth the question, “are you dateable?”
Justin Lookadoo will present the program “r.u. dateable?” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Ogden Church, 3201 E. U.S. 223. Admission is $5.
An author of several books aimed at the youth of today, including “Dateable: are you? Are they?” and “The Hardest 30 Days of Your Life,” Lookadoo is being brought to the area by YouthNet, an ecumenical Lenawee County organization that allows county youth pastors to network and facilitate programs and events.
Elem3nt Church Youth Pastor and YouthNet coordinator Brent Bittenbender said he was inspired to bring Lookadoo to the Adrian area after hearing him speak at a recent Christian music festival.
As a youth pastor, Bittenbender said he felt Lookadoo has a message worth sharing with area kids.
“He has this way with words, a gift that I don’t think you can learn,” Bittenbender said. “When I found out he talks about dating issues, I knew I wanted to bring him here. His message captured my kids’ attention.”
According to his online biography, Lookadoo “shares all the juicy secrets (all the guys’ secrets and all the girls’ secrets) to help students understand what being ‘dateable’ really means. It’s not about getting a date, but it is about character and confidence. It’s about being bold enough to do what is right and being secure enough to stand alone.”
In his programs, Lookadoo addresses the top issues facing students today such as alcohol, tobacco, drugs, pregnancy and dropping out of school, and shows how all of these affect students’ views of self and others.
